Fethiye

Destroyed by an earthquake in the '50s, Fethiye has risen from the ground to become a flourishing town along Turkey's Turquoise Coast. 

Fethiye is where old meets new and the traditional blends seamlessly with the modern. Once the ancient city of Telmessos, you can still see the remains of Fethiye's past around the town like the 2,400-year-old Lycian Amintas Rock Tombs, Lycian sarcophagus and Afkule monastery ruins. The old town offers authentic Turkish charm with cobbled streets and coffee shops where you can unwind and enjoy some quality coffee and baklava. 

A holiday in Turkey is guaranteed to be relaxing as hammams, or Turkish baths are offered in most hotels and can easily be found in the towns. In the evenings, after a relaxing day by the pool and being pampered, walk along Fethiye's gorgeous promenade to choose from an array of delicious waterfront restaurants and bars where you can soak up the atmosphere and sample the best in Turkish cuisine. 

A quick trip across the bay to Calis and you'll find yourself surrounded by powdery white sand and shingle beaches. It's the perfect place to spend a lazy day or don some goggles and explore life under the sea.
